2013 Royal Grade Fermented Pu-erh Brick 250g
2013 Royal Grade Fermented Pu-erh Tea Brick is a premium fermented pu-erh from Yunnan Province, pressed into a convenient 250g brick. It is made primarily from carefully selected golden buds and tender young leaves, traditionally classified as Royal Grade because of their fine appearance and high proportion of delicate tips.
Pu-erh tea originates from Yunnan, a region of deep mountains, ancient tea-growing areas and long-established tea traditions. Historically, tea from Yunnan was transported along the Ancient Tea Horse Road, connecting remote production regions with other parts of China and neighbouring countries.
This tea is a Fermented Pu-erh. During production, the leaves undergo a controlled fermentation process known as Wo Dui, or wet piling. By carefully managing moisture, warmth and aeration, the process accelerates microbial transformation and develops the dark colour, mellow texture and deep flavour associated with fermented pu-erh.
Since being produced in 2013, the tea has had time to mature and settle. The years of storage have softened the stronger fermentation character, allowing the liquor to become smoother, rounder and more integrated.
When brewed, the tea produces a deep reddish-brown liquor with a rich and comforting aroma. The flavour is smooth, full-bodied and mellow, with notes of aged wood, dark cocoa, dried date, gentle earthiness and subtle sweetness, followed by a soft and lingering finish.
The high proportion of golden buds gives this tea a refined texture and a smoother, sweeter profile than many coarser fermented pu-erh teas. It is an excellent choice for those who enjoy mature fermented tea with depth, warmth and very little bitterness.
