Citrus Pu-erh tea balls 120g
Citrus Pu-erh (Green Mandarin), commonly known in Chinese as Xiao Qing Gan, is a distinctive tea that combines Fermented Pu-erh from Yunnan Province with the fragrant peel of young green mandarins traditionally produced in Xinhui, Guangdong Province.
To make Citrus Pu-erh (Green Mandarin), the inside of the young mandarin is carefully removed before the hollow peel is filled with Fermented Pu-erh tea. The filled mandarins are then dried, allowing the fresh citrus character of the peel to gradually blend with the mellow and earthy qualities of the tea.
When brewed, Citrus Pu-erh (Green Mandarin) produces a deep reddish-brown liquor with a bright and refreshing citrus aroma. The flavour is smooth and rounded, combining the mellow character of Fermented Pu-erh with notes of green mandarin peel, aged wood, gentle earthiness and a pleasant citrus finish.
The young green peel gives the tea a fresher, sharper and more expressive citrus fragrance than mature mandarin peel. This lively character helps balance the depth of the Fermented Pu-erh and creates a tea that is rich yet refreshing.
Green Mandarin Peel and Aged Mandarin Peel:
Green mandarin peel, known as Qing Pi, is harvested while the fruit is still young and green. It generally has a fresher, brighter and slightly sharper citrus aroma.
Citrus Peel (Chen Pi) is made from mature mandarin peel that has been carefully dried and aged. Over time, its fragrance becomes warmer, deeper and more rounded, with softer citrus, woody and aged notes.
In simple terms, green mandarin peel offers a fresher and more vibrant citrus character, while Chen Pi provides a mellower, richer and more mature aroma.
