Assam Black Tea is a robust and full-bodied black tea grown in the Assam region of northeastern India. The area’s warm climate, abundant rainfall and fertile river valleys create ideal conditions for producing tea with a rich colour, strong flavour and distinctive malty character.

Assam tea is traditionally made from the large-leaf Camellia sinensis var. assamica tea plant. After harvesting, the leaves undergo withering, rolling, full oxidation and drying, developing the tea’s deep aroma, bold structure and natural sweetness.

When brewed, Assam Black Tea produces a deep reddish-amber liquor with a warm and inviting fragrance. The flavour is rich and full-bodied, with notes of malt, honey, toasted grain and subtle dried fruit, followed by a smooth yet brisk finish.

Its strength and depth make it an excellent morning tea and a popular base for English Breakfast blends and traditional milk tea. It may be enjoyed plain, although its bold character pairs particularly well with milk and a small amount of sugar or honey.
