Yunnan Black (Dian Hong) 50g
Yunnan Black Tea, also known as Dian Hong, is a distinctive Chinese black tea grown in Yunnan Province. The name “Dian” is the traditional abbreviation for Yunnan, while “Hong” refers to black tea, which is known as red tea in Chinese.
One of the defining characteristics of Dian Hong is its abundance of tender tea buds. After oxidation, these buds develop a beautiful golden colour and are commonly known as “golden tips.” Their presence gives the dry leaves an attractive appearance and contributes to the tea’s smooth texture, rich aroma and natural sweetness.
Yunnan’s high-altitude growing regions, warm climate and diverse mountain environment help produce tea leaves with a full-bodied and layered character. After harvesting, the leaves undergo withering, rolling, full oxidation and careful drying to develop their deep fragrance and rounded flavour.
When brewed, Dian Hong produces a clear reddish-amber liquor with a rich and inviting aroma. The flavour is smooth, creamy and naturally sweet, with notes of milk chocolate, malt, honey and a pleasant hint of peppery spice.
As the tea cools, its flavour becomes earthier and more layered, revealing deeper notes of cocoa, warm wood and dried fruit. Its soft mouthfeel and low astringency make it an excellent choice for those who enjoy a rich yet approachable black tea.
