Phoenix Oolong (Dan Cong) is a distinctive oolong tea from the Phoenix Mountains in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. It is renowned for its naturally intense floral and fruity fragrance, elegant body and long-lasting finish.

The name “Dan Cong” traditionally refers to tea selected and cultivated from individual outstanding tea bushes. Over generations, different bushes and cultivars have developed their own distinctive aromatic profiles, often described through names such as orchid, honey, osmanthus, gardenia, almond or ripe fruit.

Despite its remarkably fragrant character, traditional Phoenix Dan Cong contains no added flowers or flavouring. Its complex aroma develops naturally from the tea cultivar, mountain environment and skilled processing techniques, including withering, tossing, partial oxidation, rolling and roasting.

The mineral-rich soil, misty mountain climate and significant temperature differences between day and night help the tea leaves develop a concentrated fragrance and layered flavour. Careful roasting then brings balance, structure and depth to the tea.

When brewed, Phoenix Dan Cong produces a bright golden-amber liquor with a rich and expressive aroma. The flavour is smooth yet lively, offering floral notes, ripe fruit, honey-like sweetness and a gentle roasted character, followed by a clear and lingering finish.

Phoenix Dan Cong is an excellent choice for those who enjoy highly aromatic oolong teas with a refined fragrance and a complex flavour that continues to evolve over multiple infusions.
