Rongtian Purple Clay Teapot (140ml) | “Republic-era” Green Clay | Semi-handmade

AU$589.00Price

The Rongtian is one of the most iconic classic forms in Yixing zisha teapots. Its rounded, generous body is more than a design choice—it carries a traditional meaning: a “big belly” that can hold what’s hard to hold. In plain terms, it symbolizes the kind of mindset that makes life easier—patience, tolerance, and emotional spaciousness. When you can “contain” frustrations instead of being ruled by them, you live lighter and calmer.

This teapot is made from rare Republic-era green clay (Min Guo Lü Ni), known for its deep, muted green tone and refined texture. It has a high shrinkage rate during firing, which makes it significantly harder to form and finish—one of the reasons this material is considered especially precious among collectors and makers.

This teapot also features a traditional gold-sprinkled (“Sa Jin”) finish. Fine gold particles are introduced into the clay and softly scattered across the surface, creating subtle, naturally irregular golden flecks. Against the deep green body, the gold reads like a quiet constellation—elegant rather than flashy—adding visual depth and a more elevated, premium look, especially under light.

Crafted as a semi-handmade piece, it balances the warmth of handwork with the precision needed for everyday use. At 140ml, it’s ideal for gongfu-style brewing—easy to handle, practical on the tea table, and quietly meaningful as a daily companion.

This Republic-era Green Clay (Min Guo Lü Ni) teapot is best suited to teas where you want clear aroma and a clean, refined liquor, with a slightly smoother mouthfeel.

Recommended teas
