Wood-Fired Monk’s Cap Fairness Cup
This collection features three wood-fired monk’s cap fairness cups, presented in wood-ash glaze, obsidian black glaze, and white glaze. All three pieces are fired in a wood kiln, where flame, ash, temperature, and atmosphere interact naturally with the glaze surface. This process creates subtle variations in colour, texture, and depth, making each piece unique.
The monk’s cap shape is elegant and highly practical. Its gently waved rim gives the vessel a graceful, ceremonial appearance, while the pointed spout allows the tea liquor to pour smoothly, cleanly, and with good control.
Wood-Ash Glaze
The wood-ash glaze version presents a warm amber-brown tone with natural golden kiln effects. During wood firing, minerals from the ash melt and flow across the glaze surface, creating rich layers, flowing marks, and a deep, lustrous finish.
Obsidian Black Glaze
The obsidian black glaze version has a deep, glossy black surface with fine crystalline speckles, shimmering subtly under the light. The wood-firing process gives the glaze extra depth and movement, creating a quiet yet striking presence on the tea table.
White Glaze
The white glaze version is pure, soft, and refined. Although simple in colour, the wood firing gives the surface a gentle warmth and natural variation, making it more vivid than ordinary white porcelain. It is especially suitable for observing the true colour of the tea liquor.
Together, these three wood-fired fairness cups express different moods: the warmth of wood-ash glaze, the depth of obsidian black glaze, and the purity of white glaze. Each piece is practical for sharing tea evenly, while also bringing the natural beauty of wood firing to the tea table.
Capacity: 220ml
With every step crafted and painted by hand, no two pieces are ever alike.
